And as for…

I apologize….I know this is a very self-assuming posting. Probably not too may people care about what I am up to, beyond visitors to this site. Although some have actually inquired. As a result, I thought the readers in the GenerousGenealogists community might find it interesting to learn a little about the work I do when I’m am not chasing evil spammers away from here.

A lot of my genealogy ‘work’ involves the building of Genealogy Internet sites. The most robust and significant web site, in my suite of sites, is my family site ManyRoads. Perhaps not surprisingly, there are many other websites (commercial, societal, etc.) but the ManyRoads site is my personal genealogical repository; it contains about 30GB of information, images, maps, source documents, videos, and histories. Aside from the ‘piles’ of materials I have stored, horded, and make available on ManyRoads, I am quite passionate about certain research topics.

My greatest passions involve those places and regions where my families lived. I make every effort to accumulate materials, images and histories from many areas but two areas most especially. One is West Prussia; the former German province which was ethnically cleansed by the allies after World War 2 and is now in central Poland. The second is more a religion and less of a region, German and Swiss Mennonites (both my mother’s and wife’s families have long histories in the Mennonite tradition). Others of somewhat less ‘hording’  interest, but of no less research interest, are Iowa (my wife’s father’s family); Bas Canada (French Quebec and Clinton County New York; my father’s family); Scandinavia (Norway & Sweden my wife’s maternal lines).

As a pack rat, I have gathered and digitized a significant body of materials; and to the extent possible, I make everything freely available to the public. Sadly, there are a few items on ManyRoads that require fees due to copyright constraints, but, very few. If you are interested in seeing some of my more recent finds, they are available here:

If you want to see more stuff and feel like meandering through ‘piles’ of free research materials, links & pointers  please visit the site and enjoy!
